With more than 38 years of experience, California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is an internationally recognized provider of English-language and college-preparation instruction. CSUN's Intensive English Program (IEP) prepares students for successful university study and effective English communication.

The IEP is an immersive English program with:

  • State-of-the-art language lessons
  • Small class sizes (typically 15 to 18 students)
  • Customizable content and elective classes
  • Experienced faculty with advanced degrees
  • Digital badges awarded for professional skills and achievements

  • Access to a university campus and student life

How Conditional Admission Works

Apply to IEP with Conditional Admission for desired session. See How To Apply for additional instructions.

Visit the admission requirements page for information about all documents required to be submitted at the time of the online application.

Complete and submit a CSUN online application at Cal State Apply to the desired degree program.

After applying, complete the following steps and receive an acceptance packet:

  1. Set up a CSUN account by activating your CSUN username and password
  2. Access CSUN email account
  3. Make an online Program Tuition payment.

If you qualify for conditional admission to CSUN, you will receive TWO letters in your acceptance packet along with a Form I-20:

  1. IEP Admission Letter
  2. CSUN Conditional Admission Letter with "pre-approved" status

NOTE: A Form I-20 will be needed to apply for an F-1 student visa at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your country of origin. A Form I-20 is a government approved document issued by the Tseng College, after you apply and are admitted to a program.

6Attend an online “meet and greet - appointment and an online assessment.

Upon Arrival to the US, check-in IN PERSON with the Admissions, Registration and Client Services (ARC) Office.

Additionally, email Proof of Health Insurance copy to iepadmin@csun.edu.

8Attend MANDATORY orientation, in person.
9Receive schedule of classes and attend IEP classes!
10Once you achieve either the required English-language proficiency score OR receive approval for the TOEFL Waiver, you will be admitted into the "pre-approved" CSUN degree program.
